Fix the leaky pipeline - Women Scientists 2017

The Fix the Leaky Pipeline programme offers young female scientists (doctoral students, postdocs and other young scientists) the opportunity to reflect on their professional situations, to develop a strategy for embarking on or continuing their career paths, to receive targeted further training, and to extend their personal and scientific networks. The aim, actively supported by all institutions of the ETH Domain and the ETH Board, is to foster women’s scientific careers, to achieve gender equality and to fix the ”leaky pipeline” of women in science and related technical-academic fields

PROGRAM

The FLP programme addresses female doctoral students, postdocs and other young scientists working in the ETH Domain who currently pursue the academic career path. FLP offers customized coaching in peer groups, courses on career relevant topics, individual and peer mentoring, inter-institutional cooperation and interdisciplinary networking. Participation in part of the programme is possible.

The FLP programme is financed by the six institutions of the ETH Domain and by the ETH Board. It was initiated in 2007 and now enters into its 5th round (2021 to 2024), which comprises an extension of the previous activities and some new offers. It is supervised by the Working Group for Equal Opportunites in the ETH Domain and managed by an ETH Zurich and EPFL team

The program celebrated its 10th anniversary by publishing a collection of testimonies of former participants and coaches, showing how the program supported talented female scientists to find their specific career paths.
