Fix the Leaky Pipeline! is a career-building program in the ETH Domain that gives young female scientists on the academic career path the opportunity to reflect on their professional situations, to develop a strategy for embarking on or continuing a career path, to receive targeted further training, and to extend their personal and scientific networks.
The program focuses on female doctoral students, postdocs and other young female scientists. The core elements of the project are customized further education, work in peer groups, inter-institutional cooperation and an interdisciplinary network. The aim is to support women in their career building and to fix the “leaky pipeline” of women in science.
The program started in 2007, as a pilot project and lasted until 2008. Based on the experience, the results and the success of the pilot project, the ETH Board & the ETH institutions supported several further rounds of the program in 2010-2012, 2013-2016, and 2017-2020.
